All Booked

Hi all –

I’ve got a lot going on that I’d rather wait to discuss until another time but my days have been non-stop action from 3am-8 or 9pm most days and I barely have time to sleep let alone pretend I have time to post here right now. Hopefully I can share good news eventually, but until then, I am taking this rare moment in time to update on an unboxing I received recently! Read More

Today I received my monthly Unicorn Crate! I love this subscription service and always get super excited when I see it’s heading my way. Naomi is a super wonderful curator and I adore her boxes every month!

This month’s theme is:
Sisters Who Slay

The spoiler card.

There was no information about these but they are matching bracelets. Cute!

A Princess Leia bath bomb! I love bath bombs and have several saved up for the next time I go out of town and get to enjoy several baths! This was created by Fizzy Fairy Apothecary.

“Shield Sisters” candle inspired by Sky in the Deep. This is a much larger candle and is said to smell like blackberry and white sage. It’s big, beautiful, and smells subtly wonderful. I cannot wait to burn this one! Created by Lemon Cakes Candle Co.

A very beautiful wooden bookmark inspired by the Archeron Sisters from A Court of Wings and Ruin. I will never stop discussing how much I love bookmarks so this is a win for me. This piece was made by Papercuts and Pages and was a custom design.

A temporary tattoo inspired by the book of the month.

I am No Manart print created by Michelle Dee. I love the design around the sides a lot.

A skull keychain. At first it felt out of place in this box but after seeing the book I can understand more of why it was in here. It’s a harder plastic so it seems like it will hold up for quite a while. Created by Unicorn Crate. 🙂

Unicorn Book Buddies! THESE ARE SO STINKING CUTE. Made by Girl of All Work these are so cute and even have NAMES! I cannot wait to use these in books.

A 4-pin set featuring Lunar Chronicle women. The artwork on them was created by Diana Dworak. I haven’t read this series yet but these are beautiful pins.

The book of the month is Seafire by Natalie C. Parker. I’ve been seeing this book EVERYWHERE recently and honestly didn’t think any of the book boxes I receive would send it so I didn’t even consider it. However, it not only has a gorgeous cover but sounds like it’ll be a fun read – hopefully it is!

A signed bookplate and a letter from the author were also included.

I loved this box! I’m happy about the book and also ADORE the candle and unicorn book buddies!

  • What are your thoughts?
  • Have you recently got or read Seafire? Thoughts?

Hi Book Lovers!

Time for another fun Unicorn Crate Unboxing. This box is curated by Naomi who is super sweet and passionate about her book box. She does boxes based on YA fantasy books. Check her boxes out!

This month’s theme is:
Unlikely Allies

The spoiler card.

An exclusive “Ciara and Lief” body lotion. This is inspired by Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake and was handmade by Latherati.

Another Unicorn Crate exclusive: “Agnieszka & The Dragon” candle inspired by Uprooted by Naomi Novik. It was handmade by Whiskey Diamond Candle and is a wonderful yet subtle smell (and the color is super pretty – you don’t see brown candles as often).

A magnet with the same design and the spoiler card.

Two coasters featuring Zelie and Inan from Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. They were created by Jo Painter and are a beautiful color! I use coasters when I’m sitting on the couch a lot, so I’m always down for more!

100% love these Lord of the Rings stickers featuring Legolas and Gimli. I want to add them to my computer and they are adorable. Created by Sharon De Leon and a wonderful tie into the unlikely allies theme!

An exclusive throw pillow cover created by Papercuts and Pages. This is inspired by The Cruel Prince by Holly black and is a very thick and durable material. I have a pillow in mind I want to cover this with and it seems like it will hold up really nicely in my animal-filled home.

The book of the month is Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson. Few things. This cover in person is unbelievable. Truly. It’s this extremely vibrant blue and the details on the cover are wonderful. Second, IT’S MASSIVE. It’s such a big book so I hope it’s a good read!

It came with a signed bookplate and a note from the author – always great touches I enjoy!

I loved this box per usual and I’m glad I got this book which I wasn’t sure I wanted to ever buy for myself (stingy, I’m aware!).

  • Has anyone else gotten or read this massive book yet?
  • Favorite piece from this box?!??!?!

Happy Sunday, Book Lovers!

The past two weeks have been great for me as far as reading goes, but I’ve realized I enjoy a little space after finishing a book to fully collect my thoughts on it before writing about it anywhere. I’ve been starting/adding to about 6 reviews recently so one day I’ll post those. In the meantime here is an unboxing to share with you all!

This box was a little late getting sent to me (along with my Shelflove Crate which still hasn’t been shipped out yet, sadly). However, life happens and it doesn’t always go as planned so I was just happy to finally receive this box to tear open and eventually share on here.

I highly encourage you check out Unicorn Crate if you haven’t already. Every month they have something unicorn inspired and I enjoy almost always getting a different book than other boxes are sending out at the same time.

This month’s theme was:
Magic Systems

The spoiler card (pretty, huh?)

A Red London candle by the Leaky Candle. It smells good, as is pretty normal for most candles I receive in boxes. It’s a decent size, too, instead of just a smaller “sample” sized candle.

A water bottle inspired by Roar. It was created exclusively for Unicorn Crate. I probably will give this to my sister as I’ve got so many water bottles in my home that they are coming out of every cabinet at this point. However, I do like the top (it’s easy to hold on to) and it’s really secure.

An art print from Stella Bookish Art. It’s inspired by the Grisha trilogy. Nice quote – it is nice to receive prints that can be put up that don’t necessarily have to do solely with the book they are from so others can enjoy them, too!

Shadowhunter Rune earrings. These were created by The Bookish Company. While super cute, I do not wear earrings! I do have someone in mind who would enjoy these, though, so they will go to a good home. 🙂

A cork pencil pouch which has a quote from Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Another exclusive item for Unicorn Crate. It’s very unique and I use all pouches I receive but I am slightly sad this one is missing a tiny piece towards the top left. I made a little sad face when I noticed but I’ll be using it all the same!

Harry Potter spell pencils set. This was made exclusively for Unicorn Crate and are precious. Anything about Harry Potter swoons me – I’m a sucker, what can I say?

A “Luthadel” postcard inspired by Mistborn. While this book is high on my TBR, it currently means very little to me until I know what the story is about. I initially thought it was a Hogwarts image but realized quickly it wasn’t. Silly me.

“Believe in Magic” unicorn socks created by Unicorn Crate. I loveeeeeee these. They are ridiculously cute.

The book of the month is Fawkes by Nadine Brandes. I’m going to be honest (per usual) here. I’ve wanted this book since I saw what it looked like. However, also per usual I don’t know what it’s about really. This is a TOTAL cover-love for me. I think it’s GORGEOUS and even when the day comes and I read this and I do or do not enjoy it, I’ll keep it just for the cover. 100%. EEEEEkkks. It came with a signed bookplate and a note from the author (which I didn’t photograph for some reason).

This wasn’t my absolute favorite Unicorn Crate, but I still enjoyed it all the same. Not every box can be the box of my dreams but I’m still happy with several of the items and the book!!!

  • Do you have this book?
  • Does anyone else get this subscription box?
  • What are your favorite items in this month’s box?

Hi Book Lovers!

It’s time for another amazing, fantastic, wonderful Unicorn Crate Unboxing. Go check out Naomi’s site. I found her book box by accident a while ago and after trying it out, have never wanted to cancel my subscription!

This month’s theme was:
Potions and Poisons

Here is the ridiculously cute Unicorn Tears Pin by Octarine Dreams. Truth: I love this. One of my favorite pins to come in a book box. I don’t know why; the color? What it says? The design? Who knows. I truly love this pin.

“Drink Me” Tea (inspired by Alice in Wonderland) by the Simply Bookish Co. I want to try this iced – I wonder if it would be good?!

This Poison Apple Candle by  Black Castle Candles. It was inspired by (did you already guess?) Snow White. I 100% lit this as soon as I opened this box as this is one of my favorite scents for anything (lotion, candles, soaps, etc). It made my entire kitchen smell wonderful so, yes, it is a great candle.

“Lucy’s Healing Bath Salts” which, as you can see the ingredients here, looks wonderful. I did not open this yet as I don’t have a bath and wait to use bath-related items until I go on vacation. I’ve only ever used a plain old Epsom salt in my baths before so I’m curious how these will be!

A Potions Master apron that was made exclusively for Unicorn Crate. It’s a pretty purple. I’m unsure yet if I’ll personally use this or give it away, but it’s still cute.

A Book of Potions and Poisons notebook with a J.K. Rowling quote on the back. This was made by Literary Emporium. It has this wonderful old-book feel to it and I’m NEVER going to turn down a notebook of any kind.

The book of this month was Sweet Black Waves by Kristina Pérez. With it was a note from the author, a signed bookplate, and a Sweet Black Waves poster. When looking at books coming out I barely glanced over this one but since I now own it (despite going against my usual act of not reading about a book), I looked up what this was about. It is a Celtic re-telling of Tristan and Iseult. I’m truly excited! Also, the rolling hills of green in the back of this book cover photo kill me. YAS QUEEN.

  • Has anyone read this already? What are your thoughts if you have?
  • What was your favorite part of this box?

Hi Bookish Fans!

It’s time to go through another unboxing! Unicorn Crate is curated by the sweetest lady and when I first found her boxes I was highly intrigued. I’ve never been disappointed and love the little personal things she does to her boxes!

May’s theme was:
Tournaments & Trials

First is the spoiler card with this beautiful artwork!

Next is this Gillyweed Necklace. How cuteeee!!!! It’s made by Simona Sewing Works! I checked out her website and it’s got a lot of “potion-y” things which I’m all about.

Then there is a candle inspired by A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi. Made by Amy at Spidey Scents Candles. Another great page of themed candles. I have been burning through my book box candles often and was almost running low so I’m glad to have another one that smells wonderful!

Next is this Reading with Unicorns tote which is a big, fat yes! This custom art was made by Sieskja. Bring on the totes. All the totes. I use them all!

A patch with a J.K. Rowling quote! This is a quote from Goblet of Fire. ❤ Be still my beating heart. This would actually be great on the back of one of my totes.

Then there are these vinyl decals inspired by Red Rising. These were made by Justin – check out his etsy page. Haven’t read this series but I hear about it in the book community quite often.

An absolutely gorgeous magnetic bookmark inspired by ACOWAR. The packaging it came in and the bookmark itself are completely beautiful. Made by Amber – check out her etsy page which has a ton of really wonderful pieces (check out the Illuminae quoted items or the Ursula bookmark…AHH!).

Unicorn bookmark!

A grocery list notepad based on the Hunger Games. I LOVE LISTS and notebooks/pads so I already began using this. No regrets.

The book for this month was Furyborn by Claire Legrand. I actually squealed when I pulled this out. Honest. This is actually one of the books I’ve been most excited for since the start of the year so I couldn’t believe I actually got it in a box. I had hoped OwlCrate would have jumped on this one but I’m glad they didn’t so I have a variety of books from different companies this month. YAY! Comes with a signed plate and a note from the author. Also, the cover is STUNNING in your hands. Stunning.

This box had a lot of cute things in it and I was SO pleased with the book choice for this month. Also, the curator at Unicorn Crate is just a wonderful, sweet person and I love her passion and love of making boxes with unicorn touches in them.

  • What did you think of this box?
  • Are you subscribed to this service; if so do you like it?
  • Is anyone else as freaking excited for Furyborn as I am?! Anyone!?!!?!?!?

Hi Bookish Fans!

Here is another unboxing for the month! This is Unicorn Crate and this month’s theme was:
Northern Myths

20180425_1809395226835731542042582.jpg–> Shield-Maiden of Rohan Candle <–
Made by Half Oak Candles & inspired by Eowyn of LOTR (be still, my beating heart). As far as smell goes, it is not a top 10 scent, though I don’t despise it. I’ll be curious to see what it smells like once lit.

20180425_1810095415829751006394931.jpg–> Mead of Valhalla Lip Balm <–
Made by Cedar Chest Press. This was inspired by Magnus Chase (a series I’ve been starting to collect but, like most books, haven’t quite read yet). I haven’t opened it yet, but last time I got a lip balm in a book box I used it until IT WAS ALL GONE – this NEVER happens. Much excite.

20180425_1810275216951289413912587.jpg–> Unicorn Bookplates for Your Home Library <–
This was made by the book curator’s (she is so, so kind by the way) mom. What a completely unique and truly specialized gift that her mom helped contribute to her box. I thought it was super cute and sweet. Her mom’s pet portrait site here which I checked out and she does beautiful art.

20180425_1831163931559738964867288.jpg–> Thor’s Hammer Keychain <–
This is a really heavy keychain and I probably won’t use it for my keys as I’ve been trying out a more minimalist approach with what I carry when I go out. However, I still truly like this and will probably use it as a decoration piece for my bookshelves or another place.

20180425_1813048035415020090165593.jpg–> Celtic Shield Button <–
Goes well with the theme of this month.

20180425_1812184366012954661687656.jpg–> Yggdrasil Art Print <–
Made by Wudgla Forest. It’s a beautiful print with what looks like runes on it which is super cool.

20180425_1811565558304781810411657.jpg–> Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman <–
The curator, Naomi, wanted to surprise everyone this month with an additional book and I was legitimately so stoked to see this! I had looked it over once or twice online so it was a nice surprise to receive as a bonus!

20180425_18133316376800850141958.jpg–> Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake <–
This month’s book of the month. Like my Litjoy Crate’s box, I’ve never heard of this one, but I’m down to try it all. The cover is crazy beautiful.

20180425_1813499137900290088155268.jpg–> Note from the author & signed bookplate <–

That was it for this box. I loved the somewhat darker yet mythical feature of this box and was once again happy to receive a book I haven’t heard of so I can branch out and try more things.

  • I know this book box isn’t as popular, but did anyone else get this box?
  • What did you think?
  • What was your favorite thing from the box?
  • Have you read either of these books or interested in reading them?

Hi bookish fans!

This was my first time trying Unicorn Crate. It isn’t as popular as some of the others right now but I saw this a few times and thought it looked super cute and wanted to try it out!

This month’s theme was More Than Meets the Eye

Unicorn Whipped Body Butter – This smells WONDERFUL and it’s so soft. I actually was really surprised by this. Find similar products at Organicare (like whipped soap!!!!).

20180226_171506172134439.jpgThe Book Lover’s Cup of Tea with Tea Infuser – made by Running Press. Ok. This has got to be my favorite item I’ve ever gotten from a book box. Ever. It’s a TEA INFUSER SHAPED LIKE A BOOK. The front of the infuser says “A Tale of Two Ci-TEAS” OHMYGOSH! Love, love, love. So much!

20180226_171937882647755.jpgBookish Beauty Tea – made by the owner of Unicorn Crate (Naomi – she’s such a nice woman). She made a variety of blends and sent out different ones with boxes this month. This one has a great smell and I’m genuinely so stoked to try it in my BOOK INFUSER.

20180226_174635504579634.jpg20180226_1717041805035947.jpgThe Belles Compact Mirror – made by Disney Books. I don’t usually use mirrors but I know people who do so this will go to good use. It’s a pretty sturdy one that would hold up really well being tossed around in someone’s bag or purse.

20180226_172118894377844.jpgBeautiful and Full of Monsters Magnet – Created by The Bookish Company. I adore magnets so this can be added to my fridge 🙂

20180226_1723492011134041.jpgReading is Beautiful Bookmark & Pretty Thoughts Notebook – Always accepting these items. Always. Send them all to me.

20180226_172444401603796.jpg20180226_172611699741358.jpgThe Belles by Dhonielle Clayton – The featured book this month. I enjoyed that it was different than the other books and that it seems to be a popular book right now. I probably wouldn’t have bought this myself even though it seems interesting so I’m glad it was sent in the box!

  • Do any of you get this box? It was my first box and I hope the others are great, too!
  • Have you read The Belles? I’m curious how it reads.
