Hi Bookish Fans!
I was trying to figure out why it felt like ages since my last book unboxing (or post on here at all). A lot of exciting personal things have happened over the last month but I’m excited to get back on track for reading and writing. Let’s talk about May’s OwlCrate!
May’s theme is:
Fight Like A Girl
First we have the spoiler card – what a Viking-esque photo. Woman can be such badasses, amIright?
The next item I pulled out was this wall hanging inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Once again we see Evie Bookish creating a beautiful image in some format for readers to enjoy. While I haven’t read this series, the quote is still amazing and I LOVE WOLVES. I actually have a wolf tattoo that I got on my 18th birthday to hide an incredibly large scar. I already hung this up in the house!
Next is this overpowering bath bomb. I don’t mean that in a negative way, though. I was simply able to smell it before I opened up the box! This is inspired by Children of Blood and Bone (which is so cool as it just came out not too long ago). It was made by Whipped Up Wonderful. While I don’t have a bath, I save these all and binge on bath bombs when I take a vacation somewhere!
Then I saw this pin inspired by Hermoine from Harry Potter that reads, “When in doubt go to the library”. It was made by Out of Print, which is also another great partner for several book boxes that I adore. My pin collection is growing quickly and I cannot wait to find a perfect spot to display them all at once. Plus, this is related to HP – it’s insta-love for me.
Another pin in relation to the book for this month!
A double-sided tassel bookmark inspired by The Wrath and the Dawn and Flame in the Mist both by Renée Ahdieh. This was made by Indigo Eleven and as always, I love bookmarks so I’m all about this.
An art print inspired by Inej from Six of Crows – again, another series I haven’t gotten around to reading yet. Made by Mélanie Bourgeois, it’s another great picture of a woman being badass.
The pamphlet that talks about the author and some of the creative people who made things for this box. Additionally, the normal pin that comes with any OwlCrate box!
This month featured TWO books! The first was Catching Stars by Cayla Keenan. As for most OwlCrate covers, this is an exclusive cover. I looked up the original and it looks like it has more green to it than this one which is more gold. Let’s be real: two books. Yes, please!
The featured book of the month is Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young. I have to admit something – I rarely read the excerpts about books. I don’t like having too many opinions or thoughts about a book prior to reading it, so, like most others I receive, I don’t know much about this (and I want to keep it that way). I DO know that it is a tale of Vikings and the history nerd inside my soul is very happy about that..
This shows the difference in covers. At first I enjoyed the original a little more but after reading the reasoning why they chose to go silver over a gold it is growing on me more. While I didn’t take a picture this time, the book is signed by the author which is always a wonderful touch to OwlCrate’s books!
- Has anyone else received this box yet?
- Did you like or dislike that it had two different books?
- Did you like the theme?
- What about the items in the box for this month?
- What was your favorite?
- What were you not a fan of (if anything?)
Until next time!

I love the print of Inej! It’s an amazing series.

The TBR is an evil monster that keeps getting bigger and will eventually devour humanity.
